The mv Princess of Norway was built as part of a quartet of sisters. mv Nils Holgersson (Now mv Princess of Norway) & mv Peter Pan (Now mv King of Scandinavia) were built identical for TT-Line service out of Germany and the near identical sisters mv Olau Hollandia and mv Olau Brittannia for Olau service between Sheerness and Vlissingen, a subsidiary of TT Line.
The mv Princess of Norway is certainly the most travelled of the four sisters being sold to an Australian company in the early 90's for service out of Australia. Purchased by Fjord Line in 2002 she was brought back home to Europe and after being refitted debuted on the Bergen to Hantsolm route replacing the younger but smaller ship mv Bergen. Three years later the mv Fjord Norway replaced the 'Grand Old Lady of the Sea's' mv Jupiter on the Newcastle to Bergen route where she set new standands.
Further change occurred in late 2005 when Fjord Line sold the vessel and the Newcastle to Bergen route to DFDS Seaways. Following a major refit, wearing the name mv Princess of Norway the two sisters have been reunited within the same company and operating from the same UK port. A casual look at the sisters shows the difference's that now exist between them. Brittany Ferries being responsible for some major alterations to the mv King of Scandinavia. 2006 was to see the two sister ships not only operating from the same port once again but on the same route, as the mv Princess of Norway was swapped with the mv Queen of Scandinavia on the Newcastle to Ijmuiden route.
